Clip to ScrapBook
I read a story on the first day of school which leads to a discussion about classroom rules. It is called The Kingdom with No Rules, No Laws, or No King. It is a story in the book Free to be a Family. It is written by Norman Stiles (Sesame Street).

During the first week of school, I also read Wifrid Gordon McDonald Partridge by Mem Fox. It is about a little boy who helps find a 96-yr. old woman's memory. It is really cute. I then ask students to write about their favorite memory and I also have them bring in things that remind them of something or someone important in their lives.
