something that works
By Amy

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi! I am a first year teacher so I've just stumbled across things on my own. I gave my students a word search one morning for morning work. They loved it and worked hard all day to finish it. I had a book full of those things here at my house. The next day I presented the idea to my students; they could get a word search at anytime during the day if they have finished their work and do not want to read. They loved this idea, and it was voted in. Since then they amuse themselves with those word searches. The best thing is that they don't take it for granted either. They know it's there but the also opt to read sometimes too. I know this has worked for me. Good luck.
