A turtle is great
By Angie

Clip to ScrapBook
I've had a box turtle in my classroom for the 2 years that I have taught. It's the best class pet I could ever have. First of all the kids love it and kids from all over the school come to see it. Next, it doesn't require
tons of attention. We just feed him worms, fruit, and vegetables a couple times a week or so. Then in the winter time he hibernates and won't eat so you don't have to do much for him. We put him in shallow water a couple times a week and clean out his cage a couple times a week. There is an important rule though-- anyone who touchs him has to wash their hands right after. Especially
if they give him a bath or clean out his cage. The kids are very good with this rule and I enforce it. Before he was our class pet he was my little brother's pet and we've never had problems with him. It doesn't take much to take care of him.
