Hi, I teach in Missouri and by looking at what everyone else is making I am feeling even worse about the pathetic salaries we make. I have taught 4 years now and will be making $26,500. This is about average for our area. The beginning salary for new teachers only has to be $20,000 by law!!! Most schools in bigger areas, Branson, Springfield, Jeff City I think start at about $25,000 now. I started at $20,000 in 1998, I know that school has not gone up- since then I have moved on though and believe the base at my school is $23,000
