dirt and grime
By Joyz

Clip to ScrapBook
We have a sign-off list that we are required to sign indicating that we have all our "stuff" packed away. We also have a place to sign indicating we have posted a diagram of how we want our furniture placed after the floors
are done. Now do you think that means the custodial staff really CLEANS the floors before applying wax? No! You can actually make dirt and grime a permenant part of the overall tile design by waxing crud right into the floor. AND do you think that requiring everyone to sign off on the sheet means they all do those things. I can tell you it does not. Our custodians USED to clean
desks (inside and out) and wash chairs (backs, seats, and legs). They don't anymore. So what's the answer. Some say don't clean your own room becuase they'll never do it if we're willing to. BUT WHO WANTS TO START THE YEAR WITH A FILTHY ROOM? I sincerely hope this is the VENT board because I am truly venting!

I guess we need to keep this all in perspective. A previous "poster" has indicated that she would cheerfully clean a classroom IF she only had one. I am truly sorry. I was hired about three days before school strarted my first year. I was beginning to think that I'd spent all that time and money for college just to be a substitute -- SCARY! Don't give up on finding a school. Our school added a teacher a week or so after school started last year because of increased enrollment. It could still happen for you.
