I knew I was getting a tough class last year so I decided to use the stop light method.(sort of) It did work well and my parents loved it. I was not really hard core if the kid landed on red. Usually it was a time out or a few minutes in from recess to discuss how to get back on track. I made a note on an idex card of the reason so I could get some insight of what the reason was behind the behavior.Many times a seat change or a heart to heart talk was all it took. I really don't like to give treats unless the entire class deserves them.
