I am glad to know that it is acceptable to tell students that you them. Although I'm not a regular teacher, I've worked for several years at my local inner city school as an interim, volunteer, and aide. We have a bad "rep" and are losing our enrollment. Our school is like a family where staff and students are very close. These children really need that kind of closeness. This year I may get a classroom and I already know all the students. So, I know that I will love them dearly. In college, we were told not to tell students your feelings. Thank you for telling me that I can!
