Ideas By Barb

Hi Jen,Here are two other possible ideas... 1- for upcoming birthdays or holidays, ask for children's books as a present. Once I started college, I started making a list of books I'd like to have for the future for my classroom and gave it to my mom...so each birthday or holiday, she'd get me several to add to my collection or give me a gift certificate to get exactly what I wanted at that time. 2- Make a wish list or a book tree for your classroom, and as children and their families come if for an open house or conference, they can choose a book to purchase in their child's name for the classroom | | library. You can also suggest this if you do book orders...ask parents if they buy any books for their child, to consider buying one for the classroom as well.Garage sales, libraries, or book orders are the best for building up a library...Also...check your area for book outlet stores...like discount books or a Border's Outlet. I was just at a Border's Outlet today and got several great books for about 1/4 of the normal price! SOmetimes even less! Or, growing up, we often went to a book store that bought and sold used books...people could donate them and the store resold them...I alwasy bought books from there with money I earned from babysitting when I was younger. Good luck! Barb
