I am trying to figure out my classroom pet situation, too! I have also had hermit crabs in my classroom. They're cheap and low-maintainance, but a little bit boring. They don't do a whole lot! I also had a green snake last year. I spent about $150 on the snake and supplies, only to have him die 3 weeks later. I've decided not to have a cold blooded animal any more, because it's just too hard to keep the temperature just right, especially at night and on weekends. Another thing I'm afraid of is when the bug spray guys come. We never know ahead of time when they'll be here. I would hate to have them spray our pets!
