I agree with the other two posts. You are not sure we teach in the same school. The assistant principal has given me the same advice . . . be the boss, advice as what to do with my assistant, taking students out in the hall (which I disagree with and my sped coordinator would have a cow as well), etc. Some principals comment they have an open door policy and come to them for advice. When the door closes all you receive is a lecture of mistakes you made in the past. You are not alone. Don't let this one individual start your year in a negative way. Find someone you can speak to about your future frustrations. Most of the best advice I have ever received was not from the principal. Hang in there
