By me,too

Clip to ScrapBook
There have been rare occasions when this has happened to me. Sometimes it's because of something else going on in their lives which, when coupled with a difficult lesson they are trying to master, just puts them over the
top. A case in point was a classroom I was in recently as a long-term sub. A little girl came back to class after attending her grandmother's funeral. She seemed to be working and adjusting fairly well to the afternoon's routines, but at one point over something pretty inconsequential, she burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably. When I called her aside to see what was wrong, she blurted
out that she missed her grandmother because she was extremely close to her. The poor little thing hurled herself into my arms and I did what came naturally: I held her and spoke soothingly to her until she was able to compose herself. Several days later, I received a note from the child's mother thanking me for being so kind to her daughter during a difficult time.
