consequences
By Julianne

Clip to ScrapBook
With first grade ESL students I don't post consequences, just simple rules. But I make sure the kids know the consequences. I like to focus on the positive reasons we follow the rules, not what happens if you break one. (Although they DO break them quite often, especially at first.) Still, they need to know there are consequences for their choices. It's just that in first grade they can barely read the rule, never mind the consequences - they can't even read "consequences".
