schedule
By Shelly Powell

Clip to ScrapBook
Our morning is mostly filled with music, dance, P.E., computers and drama. I don't actually teach until 10:30 .
10:30 - 11:20 Math
11:20 - 11:50 Lunch
11:50 - 1:10 Language Arts
1:10 - 1:40 Social Studies
1:40
- 2:10 Science
2:10 - 2:15 Dismissal

I am going to use this schedule on the first day because my kids are always busy and they need to get used to their schedule. While I may not spend a lot of time on each subject, I will be going over my procedures and exceptations such as how to move from center to center, lining up, behavior in reading groups, math groups, etc...
It

is also a good time for you to group your students for their reading group so maybe you could begin a story in their reading book and have everyone read. From that you could group you high, medium and low groups for reading. Of course you would not tell the students what you are doing. The next day, you could announce their reading groups.

Also, always have their seat work out for them before they enter the classroom. They need to know that class begins as soon as they walk in and they are to go to their seats and begin quietly so you can take class roll, lunch count, etc...

Hope this helps.
