time to think area
By Terri Allen

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi,
I have been teaching for 14 years and several years ago when I had a class of several children with behavioral issues I decided to start an area such as this. We used to have a "planning Room" in our school for all
the grades and all of the teachers took turns on the schedule but that didn;t last because not all teachers agreed to give up planning time to help out. I decided that this could work in the classroom just as it did in another room in the school. I call it my "Think About It" area. If the childrena are asked to visit this area they are required to fill out a paper which gets them to
thik about what happened as a result of their behavior. Even the most behaviorally challenged children in my room know that this is not a punishment and it gives them a chance to calm down and write to me about what happened. It has worked so far as long as the children don;t feel that it is a punishment!! Good Luck!
