Community Educator
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Anne,
I think the reason you're confused is that there isn't really a set 'job description' for one. When you write to get funding for positions, it just depends upon what the grant requires you to address for the
benefit of the community you're serving.
Some of the jobs I've seen a 'community educator' handle include...(The title was Literacy Coordinator and I was supporting only one campus)
Parent liaison-communications and parent support (helping them understanding the curriculum and getting them involved with their child's education
Staff development-communication with the staff regarding
parent needs and how to help teachers work more effectively with parents
PR-publicizing events that showcase student works so parents and the community at large may participate (Young Author's Day, etc.)
Community involvement-soliciting partnerships of funding, equipment, and volunteers
If you check the requirements for several positions in the Title programs (federal funding positions) you'll get a much bigger picture of the possibilities. Hope this helps. ;-D
