newsletters
By Julianne

Clip to ScrapBook
I used to send out a newsletter monthly. It was a compromise between a weekly letter and not sending one out at all. I would include our monthly theme, any special topics we would be covering, field trip notices, etc.
I added a simple calendar of events and tried to get it home on the first school day of the month. It was some work and sometimes I didn't get it out on time, but the parents loved it. Now I'm working in a school where the majority of my parents don't speak English. It's just too difficult to get a letter translated so I've given it up for now. I think the idea of keeping parents informed
is great. You don't really need a weekly newsletter to do that, but it's one good way. Just a word of warning - don't expect all parents to read it or to use the information in it. You'll find yourself saying to parents, "Well, it was in the newsletter..." and they won't have read it.
