Dear Frustrated:I read your post and cringed! Why? Because it brought back memories of my first year. I had several, well, actually 7 challengers in my class of 32. Two of these 7 had cums with all sorts of psychological | reports. For on the these two, I had to make out weekly reports to his psychitrist. In short, my experience was "hellish." One of my biggest mistakes was that I didn't consistently document students' disruptive behaviors. PLEASE heed P.J's. adivce! The only thing that I would add to his or her advice is that you must remember to document your response to each incident recorded. | | So in addition to the date, time, and discription of child's behavior, I would note what action you took (eg. sent student to another classroom for 20 mins. with his work). When the time comes to consult with the parents, principal, school pyschologist, etc, your "thorough" documentation will be vital. Try to think on the postivie side. You never know, this student and you might get along very well! Try not to get too caught up in the "what ifs." Enjoy now as much as possible. Good Luck! G.M.
