Just a thought

Clip to ScrapBook
The WORST part of the day is the first minute, because there you are, THE TEACHER, with your class of scared, wide-eyed children (and probably a couple of parents) staring back at you. I can still remember feeling like I
had a mouthful of peanutbutter as I said, "Welcome to third grade" and I have NO IDEA what I said after that! I am not trying to scare you- just try to put yourself in the scene before it actually happens and practice. The rest of the day will go so quickly-it will be time for lunch, or gym, or recess, or whatever, before you know it. Just so you know, not to overwhelm you, but you should
really plan out your first few days. I got through the first day, went through my rules and routines, and felt pretty good. Then I got home and had a total, all-out panick attack and was hysterical because I hadn't even THOUGHT about Day #2! What a mess! Then Day #3. I was seriously ready to quit. I think one reason people don't publish the schedule of their first day is because I've been through 2 and I don't know what to do this year! Try to write down what you do because you won't remember. And remember, no matter how bad and scary it seems, you will be awesome in a few weeks/months! I don't think ANY new teacher is really prepared for what they face. One more thing- on the first day, and other days too, you will walk around and feel like everyone seems confident and to know EXACTLY what they're doing, while you feel like you have no clue, but really they are just as unsure as you. Hang in there, because on certain days and the last day of school, you will feel amazing!
