bears
By Janet

Clip to ScrapBook
I put stuffed bears in the reading center so the kids always have someone to read to. The kids write letters to variuos bears at the reading center and at the science center they have pictures of bears and Not bears (Panda).
You can check with different organizations about adopting a real bear...even at a local zoo, and that will provide you with photos for display.
An ongoing or early board could say "It bears repeating". Put as many large cut-out bears on the board as there are students. On the first day of school take the kids picture (close-up) and cut out and glue their photo faces on the bears.
Have the older kids interview the younger kids and post the info on the bears bellies. The younger children could probably fill in a prepared list of questions..Favorite color, book,
even birthday and hobbies. this also gives you lots of info to graph around the room and help the kids build a community. Have fun
