remembering names
By Trish

Clip to ScrapBook
hi...
I will be a first yr teacher this yr, But I subbed a lot.. Long term positions too for departmentalized middle schools..

Ok.. to learn names, I would make it a my # 1 mission to learn at least 5 from each class
a day. Start with making them use name tags.. or desk tags (folded paper that sits on desk with their name on it). Assigned seating.. everytime you call on a student, say.. name? then repeat it.. then make a point to use that child's name several times that day..

You'll learn them.. I bet within the first 2 weeks, you will know them all. I usually do. I feel that the students can respect

you more, when you call them by name.. Have a better 'bond' with them , I guess..

have a great yr!

And my little joke that i have been saying for the past few years (I use it everytime someone asks me if I am out of mind by becoming a teacher) I say.. hey, I am doing it for all those Christmas presents! By teaching 300, that is 300 little soaps and nick naks and odds and ends that you will get.. HA *when I say that.. people NEVER know what to say and it ends that! *
