Great books for 4th
By Jenny K.

Clip to ScrapBook
In our district we have "Core Novels" that need to be taught. We created units around each novel and then found a lower and higher level book around the same theme to meet the needs for all reading levels. We can either read as a class, do reader's workshop, or Lit. circles. For example, we have a mystery unit. The core novel is Who Stole the Wizard of Oz by Avi, higher level is Peppermints in the Parlor, lower level is The Birthday Wish. With all books we can have whole group discussions about the elements of a mystery, character traits, and journaling.
