combos
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
When I taught a combo class I tried to remind parents that even a straight grade has high, middle, and low kids who have to have their needs met. In other words, any class is a combo class. It helped me to make a list of topics (not specific objectives) I had to cover in both grades. I emphasized to the parents the number of topics that both grades had in common (for example, both grades learned about plants). Those areas we did whole class, with variations in assignments for each grade. That seemed to help calm the parents down.
