I taught 1st grade last year and will be teaching 2nd this year, I wanted to post my center ideas I plan to use this year.
Book pals- read with a partner, same book
Journal-free write in their journals
Write the
room-posters hung around the room (laminated) with the title "write-the-room" on top and a large white paper hung on it with 20 lines, one line for each student, at the top of the poster you tape a question, the question could follow your theme or be nonsense, ex. "Why did Franklin run away?" or "Why doesn't a snake have legs?" the kids love the silly questions and you get some terrific

answers
Spelling center- current spelling list and alphbet stamps, kids stamp out list onto cards or colored paper
typewriter center- i have 2 old typewriters, that still work and the students type out letters or spelling words or vocabulary
