Yu should have several personal days written into your contract. That's what they're for, to take without any reprocussions because life happens. I'd see how your school handles the substitute situation, or possibly ask another teacher to take your kids (plan to reciprocate at some time during the year). When we had a sub shortage a few years ago, we'd split up a class of 28 or 34 to the other teachers at the grade level for the day. Not the ideal learning situation, but unavoidable...So don't worry and hopefully whatever you're going to court for will work out favorably...Take care, Debbie
