the blahs
By Carolyn

Clip to ScrapBook
I know the beginning of the year can seem overwhelming, which does seem to make us feel blah/dpressed. I think you have made a wise decision not to sweat the decorating too much at the beginning of the year. You want to
focus upon the major things: getting kids to respect you and each other and planning and teaching good lessons. I decided long ago that I was not going to sweat the small stuff. It just made me too edgy. I try to take each day as it comes. I get accomplished what I can, and I try not to worry about what I can't.

Your kids can do a lot to help you, since they are older kids. I am

sure they would love the opportunity to help you decorate. In fact, when I taught middle school, my homeroom students LOVED to decorate. They WANTED the job of decorating their homeroom. So I let them have it. They are really creative at that age and can do so much to help.

You are going to have a great year! Keep us posted.
