snack calendar
By jem

Clip to ScrapBook
I print out a monthly calendar and send it home at the beginning of each month. The children /parents are responsible for the snack for the entire class once a month. I fill in my own name on any extra days so no-one is responsible
for snack more than once a month. I send a list of approved snacks and a list of inexpensive possibilities. I have found that sending snacks is not a problem even with low income families. If they are receiving government assistance, they can purchase food with this. They can not, however, purchase other items you might be tempted to ask for..like napkins or plates.. for parties
or whatever. I keep that in mind when asking for supplies throughout the year. Most families are willing to help out and do whatever they can. It might not be the healthiest or best snack choice each day, but it does the job of keeping their tummies full between mealtimes.
