My first year, I didn't do a very good job keeping an organized gradebook. However, one of the biggest things I learned is, enter grades in with pencil. Some teachers I know use red ink for test grades or grades that count more than once. Keeping a gradebook is a very personal thing. You will find out what works for you. Also, you might ask a few veteran teachers to show you how they keep their gradebooks. I did, and it helped me get more organized.
