2nd graders are wonderful! They are coming out of 1st grade (most of them) with many skills. They are reading CVC & CVCV words (some with lots of help). They have explored the math facts to 10 (this varies in districts). And much more. THEY need structure and feel proud of themselves when they do well. I post a schedule that works wonders! Procedures are a must (drinks, bathroom, getting out of seat, moving from one task to another, lining up at the door). Classroom jobs are a fun thing to have in 2nd grade--there were other posts on this. You'll enjoy them! Check out the 2nd grade post for ongoing ideas!
