hi Melissa,

this is how my cooperating teacher sent up her class. It was for 2nd grade, but maybe it will help you.

She started the day with DOL. On the board she would write half a sentence, they were to complete the
thought and write at least 3 sentences to it in their journals. (Ex. I had a pet dinosaur and...). They also had to correct 2 sentences (ex. She and me done that. i laughed at the dog.) She had a judy clock that she sent the time on and that was the 3 thing they had to do. write what time it said. This would take about 20 minutes. While they were working on this, she called roll, collected
anything that needed to be,etc.
Then she would come by a group a day and read over their journals. She would spot check some. then a few could share, they corrected the sentence and would discuss the time..
Next came reading. She felt that reading first thing was best. They were more alert. That lasted until they had PE (about 10.) after PE, if needed they would finish up reading/phonics/. Then English then go into Math. She would end the day with Science/social studies.

Her class was very organized.

Hope this helped..
