Sample Schedule

Clip to ScrapBook
I am also a third grade teacher. Here is a sample of my day:
Monday
8:30-9:10 Weekend News: STudents write about their weekend (6 sentences) and then they may share it with the class. If they finish early, they
may work on crossword puzzles or read a book.
(On Tuesday during this time, I would have SQUIRT, Handwriting, Computers, or Calendar (Depending on the day.) I really enjoyed having SQUIRT (Quiet Reading Time, free choice) first thing in the morning. During this time, I could read notes, collect homework (sometimes I would even correct it at this time) and meet with students is I needed
to address something.
9:10-9:50 Language Arts
9:50-10:30 Whole Group Reading (We would all read the same lit book, have discussions, answer questions).
10:30-10:50: Snack. I would also read a chapter book aloud to them at this time (I love Roald Dahl) After each book I read aloud to them, we watched the movie (The Witches, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, Fantastic Mr. Fox and James and the Giant Peach).
10:50-11:30 Individualized Reading Time (Leveled reading, comprehension packs, book clubs.
11:30-12:10 Math
12:10-1:10 Lunch/ Recess

All afternoons we had specials, social studies, science, spanish, computers, etc.

I would highly reccomend having Language Arts and Reading in the morning. If you can, have math in the morning. All other subjects, you could schedule here and there.
