Locked out of the school!
By Just Plain Frustrated!

Clip to ScrapBook
This is my 7th year to teach, and I agree with you all. "Dedicated," you express my sentiments exactly. However, when you mentioned that you'd been in your classroom about ten times during the summer, I just felt sooooooo
jealous and frustrated that I had to respond.

This IS a vent board, right? Okay, so I'm going to vent. Every summer our district tells us that we have to stay out of our buildings until a certain date because the custodians and maintenance people need the time to do their work. This year school starts August 22, we are locked out of our building until at least August 10 (maybe even

longer). I just heard, through the grapevine, that one of the other elementary schools in our district has gotten permission to go into their buildings on August 1!!!!!!!! We are always the last to get into our buildings. Then to add insult to injury, when we attend our beginning-of-the-year district meeting before school starts, that we should all go take a look at the *#+#*$$* Elementary because those teachers over there have done such a WONDERFUL job getting their classrooms ready!!!!!!
Now, I feel much better! I still can't get into my classroom yet, but at least I got that off my chest.

I think I know the reason we think about school all the time. I think it is because we have the greatest, most important, most difficult, most rewarding, most demanding, most wonderful job in the world. For all my venting, I would not want to do anything else!
