4/5 combo By Mabel

Hi! I taught in a 3/4 combo for about 6 years and when we first started out we had the same concerns. To be honest, we focused on the necessary skills (map reading, geography, using resources...) rather than the actual| content. (I teach in NY State. We did this before the State came out with a more detailed "scope and sequence.") I can understand your principal's desire to have you not teach the class separately, but she/he should be 1. Offering you assistance with this concern, and 2. Ready to support you as you begin this process. Once you get through your first year it shouldn't be a problem | | as your students will have been with you for both the fourth and fifth grade year.I know this isn't a "how to" answer, but I wanted to share my thoughts. Good luck! What great grade levels to combine!
