parenting/teaching

Clip to ScrapBook
Every year I struggle with this because would love to be the "room mother", cookie maker, field trip attending mother that my mom was. (I have a 9 year old, a six year old and an eight week old baby). But, I do work, and
I love teaching. Some of the ways I combat this is to work with other teachers who have children. We take turns covering each others' classes in order to attend programs, etc. (luckily we have an understanding administration). I try to eat lunch with my kids once or twice a month, and send them little notes when I do not. My kids love coming to my room after school to play "school"
with their mom, and I always have a little treat, pencil or sticker for them. And then you can always remember that as a teacher, you have additional knowledge and resources to help your children get an early start in education. I hope you have a great year, and that you know many of us feel for you.
