Give me an hour anyday! By JES

Hola, Sarah!
I teach social studies OR science for an hour each day, rather than 30 minutes for each subject every day. I like it because the extended session (without the time consuming transition between subjects) provides students more time on-task. It allows us time to investigate and develop concepts more thoroughly. I don't believe it promotes a feeling of discontinuity. In fact, I believe it provides much needed time for some ideas to "gel." It also gives students an extra day to work on more in-depth assignments in both subject areas.
