Age

I agree with Helen. Your thesis should be a review of attitude. I have only taught for 5 years, however the teacher who I replaced taught for 33 years. By all accounts she was a phenominal teacher. I have also taught
with young teachers who do what they have to to get by and leave by 3:00. The bottom line is, if one has the attitude that the students are the most important factor in the school community, a positive attitude usually follows. How am I going to get that student to learn? What can I do to motivate? How can I create a positive learning environment? All of these questions and more flow
through a good teacher's mind about this time of year, every year. A positive attitude means that one is willing to change and mold to new students and new strategies. It has nothing to do with age but more to do with thought. I feel that many of the older teachers that most are referring to are just burnt out and have lost the positive attitude they need to succeed. Let's face it, teaching is an industry where success is not blatent and rewards are very minimal. To segregate a certain group of people for their reaction to this is bias.
