Hugging

As a male teacher I have been repeatedly told that I should avoid physical contact with my students (5th Grade). I am an affectionate man with strong paternal feelings toward my students. I do avoid touching them first, but if one hugs me, I'll be darned if I'm going to tell them I won't hug back. What kind of message would that send??John
