hugging?

As a teacher, I feel I should teach the whole child. Sometimes a child needs a hug because as we all know, many of them don't get the love they need at home. We have to teach compassion in our schools as well as the academics. Many schools teach sex education which should be the parents responsibility. It should also be their responsibility to love their child unconditionally, but many of them don't. I'm sorry to be on my "soapbox", but I feel VERY strongly about this. CHildren need to know they are loved in the right way. A third grader is not too big to sit on a lap. THe problem with our society today is that we seem to want to force kids to grow up too soon. Sorry for the lengthy reply.
