You should start with getting to know you activities. For math, do the 1st grade review. For reading, I would do some read alouds with some activities that tie in what they did during the summer. For instance, I'll be reading How I Spent My Summer tomorrow and they'll color a t-shirt pattern showing how they spent their summer. We also read First Day Jitters and did a journal entry about their fears for the first day.
We do a lot of "fun" activities that give me insight on what they can do on their own and where they need help ~ plus, let me get to know the kids.
Not to mention, you'll be doing a lot of teaching of procedures and such so that will take some time.
