Homefolders
By JES

Clip to ScrapBook
I use large letter-sized clear plastic envelopes--the kind with the string closure -- for sending information to and getting information from home. I have a "contract" that slips inside the front that states students' responsibility
to get paper/notes home to parents, get parents' signature, and bring the homefolder back to school the following day. I teach 4th and 5th graders. We stockpile graded work, and one day a week we shut down, turn on some jazzy music, and everyone helps distribute papers to everyone else. It's crazy and hectic but fun! We all sing as we work, but at a designated time, the
music stops, everyone organizes papers, and all place papers in homefolders. Parents use these homefolders to return notes that need signatures, etc. back to me. Students get a "ticket" for parents' signature the following day when they turn in their homefolders.
