Start of School
By Virginia

Clip to ScrapBook
Angelique, I have been teaching for a number of years and find that every class is different, no two are ever the same! First of all, colleagues often try to be helpful by "filling you in" on your incoming students. However,
I have found the best approach to simply to ignore any negative comments and start with a clean slate. Establish a classroom management plan that helps your students realize they are responsible for their own choices and all choices do have consequences.

I have found Lee Canter's book "Back To School With Assertive Discipline" very helpful. He has many, many ideas for dealing

with students and parents. There are many reproducible forms and letters to use as well. I do have to check out Harry Wong's book, I have heard so many positive comments about it.

Best of luck in your new teaching position, have a great school year.
