Make-up work
By Trish

Clip to ScrapBook
This will be my first year teaching.. The following plan was a school plan at the school that I student taught at for a year (2 different grades.. 2 different semesters). It worked well and I probably will use it myself..

Simply have a box on the board titled Make-Ups. Any hand-outs, etc simply write or have a child be in charge of it, the absent student's name on a page and put it in the box. We had a job for this. A student would take care of it. Also they would write down all the assignments covered in class besides the hand out and put that in the box too. The absent child had 3 days to retrieve
and complete their work. If not done, they received a 0. There was no reminding on the teacher's part. It was the student's responsibilty to check the box for what they missed.

Hope this helps!
