I teach fourth grade and mail parents a letter about two weeks before school starts. I make it very positive and cheerful and just stick to the basics such as: Where I received my degree(s) How long I have taught Classroom rules Supplies needed by students A schedule of classes (specials, lunch, etc.) Any miscellaneous info (such as what you do for birthdays, holidays, etc.) How they can reach you (email, phone, etc.) A very brief bit about yourself----married, children, pets, hobbies. Then I end on a positive note and tell the parents how much I am looking forward to meeting them. These are suggestions I use, and hope this helps!
