Clip to ScrapBook
Kathy,
I feel just like you when it comes to these kinds of things -- not Martha! Our PTO alwasy holds a fund-raising auction, and each class puts together some sort of "theme basket." An example of theme would be a
Summer Fun Basket with beach ball, suntan lotion, sunglasses, beach towel, bubbles, splash balls, picnic dishes, etc. all put into a basket (could be a picnic basket, a laundry basket, or any style). I've seen classes put together themes such as chocolate lovers, gardening, candles, art supplies, real Beanie Babies, and sports. I don't know exactly how you could make a theme basket fit
the "personalized" requirement, but is certainly an easy project. After selecting a theme, students (and teacher) bring in items. You don't have to be "Martha or even an arts and crafts kind of gal!" I've always had a parent agree to assemble the basket, seal it in shrink wrap or wrap it in colored cellophane, top it with a bow, and attach a complete list of the items included! Good luck! If this idea won't work for you, I'm sure someone else will post something you can use!
Elaine
