Kathy, I am not very good with arts and crafts but I do have an idea you might be able to use. I am not sure what grade level you teach, but how about a seasonal banner?Every year my first grade class makes a class "flag" | after we finish a social studies unit on American symbols. This is how we do it.... I give each child a plain white paper square 6"x6" and call a few at a time to draw a picture with special fabric crayons (available at any craft store). I instruct the class not to print numbers or letters because they would turn out reversed when you transfer the images onto cloth. Be sure to | | remind the children to color their entire design with bright colors, not just to outline a picture. Once you have all the paper squares, (with children's names on the back so I know the artist it is time to transfer the art.I purchase about a yard of plain white cotton cloth and transfer each square onto the cloth with a hot iron. The directions are on each package of fabric crayons - the transferring is simple and fast. Then, I quickly stitch the sides for a neat appearance. Voila, we have our flag or banner! Attach your banner to a wooden dowel and it is ready to be hung. You might divide your class into groups to create designs for the seasons, for different holidays, or even for a school theme. I hope this suggestion is of some help to you. Good luck.
