I really like everything "put away" in its place; however, we all seem to struggle with lack of space. I use six file crates to provide extra storage in my classroom. I make two stacks (columns) of three crates each.

I
make two sets of hanging files for each student and place one complete set in each of the two top crates. My students use their own hanging file in one crate to store Writer's Workshop works in progress and the other to store/turn in their Literature Response Journals.
The four crates that are underneath these two may be used to store all sorts of supplies. I have one crate of math and

social studies flashcards, another holds our classroom set of dry erase boards, etc. If the crates have openings that reveal "stuff" inside, I simply line the sides of the crates (and the bottom if necessary to prevent small items from falling through) with colorful paper. You could fill large Ziploc storage bags with your math manipulatives and then store the
bags in the lower level crates.

These file crates are relatively inexpensive and usually colorful. They will not solve all your storage problems, but they could help! Good luck!
