I have taught 5th grade for several years and love teaching Chapter books. Mr. Popper's Penguins would tie into Science and Social Studies. Number the Stars is Great for Social Studies. Another Good stand by that we use is Where The Red Fern Grows. The key to novels is to convince the students that this is the BEST book that you have EVER read! Good Luck!
