bulletin boards By teachermom

FYI boards are nice. You can put up lunch menus, class schedules, calendars, notes, etc. The kids always know where to look for the info you usually put there, so it is actually functional. I also put up posters that are| used for constant reminders. Above the board, I put up a place value chart and leave it there all year. I hang a decimal/fraction equivalents chart somewhere in the front of the room. You can choose one spot in the room for measurement and add to it throughout the year--one poster at a time as needed. Leave the old stuff up! Same goes for geometry, or any other theme. I hang | | small posters everywhere!! Posters and banners about doing your best, good attitudes, etc. Decorate one time with stuff that is great and leave it up. I don't mess with bulletin boards anymore, but I always get compliments. I do put up students' work, posters, etc. One more hint: I always used to put up pretty paper or material and change my borders. I had to move rooms in one day last year. I simply had NO TIME. I hung a cool border around my cork boards. It looked great!! I'll never cover them again. I have ordered subject related borders for next year and I will leave them up all year. Good luck!!
