Creating Book Guides for Literature
By HTR

Clip to ScrapBook
Sheila,
I'm sure you'll find some information about Maniac Magee either in a commercial guide or from other teachers on the Book Board. It's a popular story in fifth grade classes.
Don't you think it's important that you read the book and choose the skills that you feel the style and language of the book best supports? Another resource for choosing skills and comprehension is your school/distict curriculum guide. Try to match the skills you need to teach from your guide with the trade book you want to read. This will help your students to master the required skills while they enjoy quality literature.
Conversations by Regie Routmann is a good resource book for developing book studies.

Good luck and happy reading!
