Last year, my teaching assistant made a neat board to begin the school year. We got the idea out of a Mailbox magazine. (Sorry--can't remember the date). Anyway, she took all of our students' names and fit them together to form a crossword puzzle. (For example, "marcie" might have been across the top, with "jeannie" coming down, using the "a" to fit them together). The title of the board was, "We all fit together". It was eye-catching and we had lots of positive comments from teachers, parents, and students. It's definately one I'll use every year.
