This is my second year using AR in my classroom. While I found the task a bit overwelming at first.. I soon became a pro at it. I used AR with my average reader class in two ways.. as a Reward & point based program and as a comprehension builder for two of the novels we read in class. I plan on changing my approach this year. I want the students to be on their level of reading so I can see where they start and where they finish out the year. They will get a "grade" for the three required AR books every six weeks. Only time will tell how it goes.
